As I had enjoyed a few matches in London last year, I was more than excited to gather some of the ladies and head down to the flats to watch a few Chukkas in YVR.
We put together a picnic, threw on our hats and sundresses, and drove down to the Riding Club. As we had brought our own munchies (champagne included), we opted for grounds admission ($5), and set up our picnic alongside the field.
The matches themselves weren't the only attraction. There was divot stomping, best-dressed awards, and even an award for the best picnic set-up. Do you know who took that award home? That's right, yours truly. I joked that a year in London actually awarded me an MA in the art of picnics. We were quite pleased with ourselves.
Despite the people watching, we did enjoy the game...
And of course, appreciated the efforts the spectators went to...
Did I tell you we won best picnic?
Theme: English Garden (Obvs.)
I'm hoping this event stays put for a few years. Perhaps we'll find a venue with a regulation size field? Regardless, I know we are out to defend our picnic title.
Until next year...
