Day 1:
- A walk along the South Bank
- We started with a ride on The London Eye (something they said they could care less about, until we were within feet, and then they wanted to go on it)
- No Southbank walk is complete without a pit stop at Pieminister (we shared so that we could save room for Borough Market)
- Finished at Borough
- Rested the Feet at Tapas Brindisa
- War Horse
Day 2: (Mom's Birthday)
- Met 'M' for tea and a behind the scenes look at the Changing of the Guards (from the Wellington Barracks)*
- Picnic Lunch and a snooze in the sun (Pret a Manger of course!) on the lawns at Green Park
- Off to rent Boris Bikes and cycle Hyde Park and Kensington Park
- A small pick-me-up in a Moroccan Restaurant in Shepherds Market
- A pint at the pub in Knightsbridge where mom used to work in 1974 (The Paxton's Head)
- Off to Brixton Village for dinner
*A special treat to be on the inside of the fence with the rest of the tourists looking in on us (mom was pretty pleased when she received a birthday salut...its possible it was for the dignitary behind us, guess we'll never know)
Day 3:
- Toured Westminster and sat in on the House with a friend who works for an MP
- Walked to Trafalgar Square and visited The National Portrait Gallery
- Wine and Cheese in the cave at Gordon's Wine Bar
- Dinner at Wahaca
They did have one more day in London on their way back from France. We took it easy with a walk through Wandsworth Common, relaxing on the grass, pints at the Hope pub and then dinner at Lola Roja. A perfect visit!
Wow, what a jam-packed for days! You sure did show them some of the absolute best bits of London.
ReplyDeleteHow nice that M was able to get you in the Officer's Mess in Welly Barracks, it does feel so great watching it from the inside.
