Escape to Skookumwhat?

A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to score an invite to a friend's cabin on the Sunshine Coast. Skookumchuck Narrows, to be more precise.
For those unfamiliar, this entails catching the ferry to Langdale, driving up the coast to Egmont, and then hopping on a boat to navigate through the Skookumchuck rapids. The Narrows are an area of rapids (whitecaps and whirl pools) forming as 200 billion gallons of water are forced through this passage during the tides each day (it's true, I read it on wikipedia). Depending on the size of ones boat, the timing of your passage through the narrows can be quite crucial (eek!).

We had an incredible few days at 'The Skook', with the McBride clan. As you might figure, the cabin is 'off the grid', so we were able to truly rest. We took long snoozes on deck chairs along the shoreline, played (...and lost) a few thousand games of 'scramble', explored the rapids, tidal pools, and the most picturesque waterfall, and had a wonderful catch-up with the tiny Miss Shay.
